Just got back from Boston, a weekend-long road trip as part of the celebration of The Month of Our Peņa* (i.e. Steph P's birthday, which is on Wednesday.) It was a two-car trip with 8 people in all, and there was, in sum, much drinking of the devil liquor and eating of fattening, high-carb foods. It was lots of fun. Sadly, Cheryl got a stomach virus and couldn't come, which was disappointing. I've been to Boston many times in my life since childhood, but ever since Tour2K, I've associated that part of the world with Miss Cheryl, our native New Englander. Lots of good memories in that town with the goils. Boston, by the way, does not believe in salting the sidewalks properly, which means lots of slippery black ice wherever we went. Miraculously, Clumsy Sue managed not to fall this time. (I had to literally catch her twice, though.) Still, we managed to have a good time. The trip revolved around Peņa's desire to visit Lizzie Borden's house, which is a charming bed-and-breakfast now, where the proprieters delight in lending authentic axes to those visitors who wish to recreate the poses that resulted from the grisly double-murders that took place there. Good times, yes? *I know the enyay in Peņa's name results in garbled characters on most people's screens, but I have to try for her sake. Labels: beer, black ice, carbs, gas |
