More on the "Get Dave Back on TV" Campaign! (see below for more)

Some tips for writing to NBC about getting Dave back on tv that I've adapted from this website:

1) Be brief. No more than a page per letter.

2) Snail mail it! Snail mail letters carry far more weight than emails - they show you took time and are less anonymous.

3) Handwritten letters are even better than typed ones.

But emails are better than no letters! So do what you have time for. Remember, Programming@nbc.com.

4) Be polite and positive. Mention that you were watching Will and Grace, and that Dave's appearance will encourage you to watch in the future.

5) Appeal to demographic interest. If you're male and between 18-49, say so. If you're female and have a boyfriend or are married, have your husband to write a letter. Or write another for him (and any other male friends) and get him to sign it. It's sexist, but for some reason, networks pay more attention to letters from guys than females. Fact of life - just run with it.

6) Personalize the letters as much as possible. Tailor them to the network or media outlet you're targeting.

7) Don't mention any campaigns. Write as an individual, avoid ties to lists or campaigns. Otherwise, your letter will be ignored.

10) Don't write "Will and Grace" on the envelope. The letter might get forwarded to the "Will and Grace" production offices instead of the executive the it's intended for. Make sure you don't have any "I (heart) Hecubus" return address labels; they're fun, but they detract from the seriousness of your statement.

In addition to writing in yourself (and please do that, as they take snail-mail even more seriously than email, etc), you can sign the petition Caroline started, which will be sent to Jeffrey Zucker in three months.

Also, Justine found out that according to NBC's website, Dave's first appearance on Will and Grace, orginally scheduled for tomorrow, is now scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 8:40 pm. I'd keep checking that link just to make sure, but there we go!

New: I got a tip that NBC's website has some more pictures from Dave's appearance: now they're here.

Crissy informs us that Dave will be on FIVE upcoming episiodes-- count'em, FIVE!!!-- and that, furthermore, this is a great time for us to organize a grassroots letter-writing campaign to get Dave back on tv:

I think it's time we got Dave back on the air in
his own show, so I propose our very own "grassroots" letter-writing (or
e-mailing) campaign. This guest role is the perfect opportunity. They
have absoluetly loved him over there, and, hence, added two episodes,
and possibly more. I think it's time we let the execs over at NBC know
how much Dave is missed. Can you please ask the fans to bombard NBC
with letters for the five weeks Dave is a guest on "Will & Grace". We
all know TV is in a sorry state and I think it's time we upped the
quality with a Foley show!

I totally agree and plan to send my emails to NBC as soon as the first episode airs, as well as letters. If you're a Dave fan, this is the cause to rally behind, gang! Here are some addresses to get us started:

Direct your letters to:

Jeffrey Zucker
President, NBC Entertainment
NBC Studios- Administration Bldg.
3000 W. Alameda Ave.
Burbank, CA 91523

And send those emails to Programming@nbc.com

I know I'm ready to see Dave back on tv. His creative force must be made accessable!

Don't forget to let them know how much you love Dave's appearances and performances on Will and Grace in the next few weeks. Let's get our quality-comedy-lovin' voices heard!

Pass it on!
