This morning I got on the PATH train, got a seat, and closed my eyes immediately to nap until my short ride was over. I never have any caffeine until I reach the office, so I'm usually pretty sleepy on my commute.

As a seasoned subway rider, I automatically open my eyes at each stop, to ensure I don't miss getting off where I'm supposed to. The longest stretch of ride is between Hoboken and the first stop, Christopher Street, so I can get a good 5-10 minute nap in before I have to open my eyes.

Today I opened my eyes at Christopher Street and stared right into a bulging, blue-striped sweater being worn by an obviously pregnant, tired looking woman. I immediately felt like a cad, and the worst part is, the person next to me got off at the first stop so she was able to take their seat, denying me the opportunity to not feel like an asshole for letting a pregnant woman stand right in front of me for the longest part of the ride.

Dammit, pregnant ladies, wake me up if you need a seat.
