The Heterosexual Lifemate has gone off to Kansas City to spend Christmas with her family. This is our first Christmas apart in something like 8 years, I can hardly imagine what it will be like without her. This is also the longest she's ever gone away since we were roommates.

She's nervous about leaving me with the kitties. This is a picture of my instructions. The most important one is "All the elements are off!"

This is a reference to a Kids in the Hall sketch in which Fran and Gordon are about to leave for vacation, but Fran is nervous about leaving their son Brian alone and keeps checking the stove to make sure it's off. This is very important for me because I don't have much of a sense of smell - at all - and can't tell if something goes awry. (That also applies to the reminder regarding the kitty litter.)

But everything will be okay, I swear!
