Dewey sings along
Originally uploaded by Tavie
It was a weekend of birthdays. Friday was drinks and too much fried bar food, for Marc and Caroline's birthdays. Saturday was the celebration for Andrew's birthday, which featured ice cream cake from the Ice Cream Factory in Chinatown, in my three favorite flavors (Green Tea, Pumpkin Pie and Almond Cookie.) The pounds were packed on, although I counted as carefully as I could.

Today I took a bus down with Philly to meet Beth and Nathan and celebrate Beth's birthday. Although I've known Beth for ten years, I'd never been to her home before, except for a brief bathroom stop on a road trip a few years ago. Today I got to spend some quality time with Beth, Nathan and their menagerie. Dewey the eldery dachshund was particularly cuddlesome with me, and we spent a lot of time kissing. Clancy and Mabel, adorable little chihuahua/Jack Russell mixes, warmed up to me after a period of barking and fussing, and climbed all over me for kisses as well. Wally and Reagan were more standoffish, in the manner of cats, but let me pet and admire them as well.

They took me to the fabled Wawa (excellent coffee) and to an amazing flea-market type place called Berlin Farmer's Market. That place was full of dusty kitsch. I will definitely return. I am a huge fan of dusty kitsch, I think you know that about me.
