Happy birthday, Mom!

I spent the majority of my mom's 59th birthday being pampered beyond belief, first at a facial at a too-schmancy-for-the-likes-of-me place on the Upper West Side (a gift from my aunt to my sister and me.) Afterwards, Kirsten convinced me to get my first manicure in 17 years (and my second professional manicure, ever.) Then I went to my aunt's apartment and saw her newly-remodeled bathroom, which put the fancy spa to shame, it's so posh and amazing. Her new toilet is an unbelievable robot from the future, via Japan. You would not believe the amenities on this thing. She's so fancy that we call her Flovenia.

My mom's birthday was celebrated at a sort of hipster-y, kitsch-y Polish joint in Greenpoint, where I gorged on goulash and steak tartare.

I also managed to lose weight this week, despite my recent vacation-y indulgences.

My mom loved the iPod we got her.
