Tomorrow is my 28th trip to Disney World. This time I'm going with Steph* and her family. It will be fun to be the tagalong instead of the host.Labels: more later Why are you in Tavie's head? 7:39 PM | shower me with attention

How long has it been since my cell phone battery died? Over a week?
I'm getting it taken care of tomorrow. Even I don't like to be this unreachable.Labels: i miss texting Why are you in Tavie's head? 12:24 AM | shower me with attention

It's been mostly slow at work lately. It sort of drives me crazy. One day last month, for lack of anything to do, I sat there and spent a lot of time drawing this tree stump. I left it sitting on my desk as a demonstration to the world of how having no work makes me feel.
My co-worker and team-mate, whose Incognito Blog Name shall be Dog Faced Boy (henceforth DFB; not because he's dog-faced, but because that's who he would play in a freak show), saw the tree stump and said, "What is this, Tree Stump Friday?"
Since then, every time we've been slow, he's asked the question: "What is this, Tree Stump ___day?" It's become something of a catch phrase. We even xeroxed the tree stump a couple times so that J-Rock and DFB could display their own talismans of boredom. The tree stump is something of a mascot now.
I sincerely hope tomorrow is not Tree Stump Monday. We are not supposed to use the internet for non-work-related purposes, so I will only say that I have run out of "work-related" things to do with my computer and will soon have to start jamming mechanical pencils into my arm to stay awake.

This is the most seriously fucked-up story I've ever read.
eta: Good Metafilter discussion about the story, and another interesting perspective.
re-eta: Oh, this is getting too good:
>>Who the hell devotes a year and a half of their existance to somebody that they've never met?<<
Around here, we call them "Christians."
Cheap shot, but it's true. People devote themselves to the dead, to the nontangible, to the imaginary on a constant basis. Aristists and historical scholars who study Hitler, programmers and patriots, grieving widows and physicists looking for a greater degree of accuracy in the charge of the electron, religious functionaries and shopping mall Santas. The human capacity to become highly involved with the abstract is the source of much of civilization's gains, madness both private and public, and character of life for homo sapiens... -adipocere on MetafilterLabels: and every word is true Why are you in Tavie's head? 4:01 PM | shower me with attention
