I watched Lady in the Water last night.

I wanted it so badly to be better. I loved the themes. Loved the performances. It has two of the best actors in the world in it, Paul Giamatti and Geoffrey Wright. It deals with subjects that are maybe closest to my heart - recapturing feeling of childhood; communities coming together and everyone playing a role in an adventure; stories; magic.

But, but, but. It was not so well written. The story could have been told better, and, more, constructed better. It was just a lame kind of story. It didn't cohere. The characters were not well-written. I wanted to enjoy it much more. I still think I kind of love it, despite the flaws, because I want to love it so much.

Oh, well.
