We were sitting around watching Sense and Sensibility this morning when the fire alarm went off. We stuck our heads out to investigate but saw no activity, so I made my way to the first floor to see what was going on. There were a few neighbours milling around quizzically and we discovered smoke down a hallway on the first floor, coming from under the door of a first-floor apartment. There was also a big puddle outside the door.

Everyone congregated outside and the goils brought the cats down, and the turtle in a little mini-cooler. (He was not pleased.) I took pictures with my cameraphone to pass the time.

We still don't know what caused it, but no one was hurt so it was just an interesting diversion for an otherwise ordinary Sunday.
