Are scrunchies coming back? I've been seeing them more and more lately. I don't get it. It's too early for us to be wearing them ironically, isn't it?

I'm no clothes horse-- as I've said, 80% of my work wardrobe has holes in it or ragged edges, a result of financial restraint rather than fashion-consciousness-- but I try to avoid the more obvious horrors: spandex, shoulder-pads, scrunchies, and like sorts of relics of the early '90's that haven't yet reaches ironic Trucker-Hat status. So why are all these chicks on the subway, on the street, on the Lower Fercrissake East Side, partaking of the scrunchie again? Like it's okay?

It's not okay. Use a damn elastic band. They make 'em good now, no metal to snag on. I've of late been favouring a selection adorned with Mickey-Mouse-shaped pom-poms.
