Last night's Department Dinner was the best yet, I think. It was pretty good, anyway. We got a more lively bunch than in dinners past. Kirsten brought everyone cupcakes from Magnolia's, one last time.
I'm at Andrew's post-horrorfest. We only watched 2 and a half movies, but they were good ones. I saw Jaws for the first time. It was pretty damn good. We also did some classics from horrorfests past: We got through Invasion of the Body Snatchers and half of Night of the Living Dead. Are there any movies where Jeff Goldblum doesn't play an ass? Maybe ElephantTall Guy and Independence Day...
My beloved leather Mary Janes from erin finally died, so I picked up some cheap-ass Payless replacements which pinch my feet, because I am a tightwad pauper. Hmm. I want my raise. Mama wants a decent pair o' shoes.
I'm surprising my parents. Every month Andrew and his dad host a meeting of geeks Fans at their apartment, which my parents attend, as it is my father's primary social outlet. I decided to stick around today and surprise them. Also it's a long damn trip back home from Inwood so I'm putting it off as long as possible. Tomorrow is:
Kirsten's last day at work.
The Department Dinner.
Horrorfest at Andrew's.
The last will be an all-night affair so please, Lord, please let me fall asleep right now. Why are you in Tavie's head? 10:55 PM | shower me with attention
Wellp. Wellp, wellp, wellp. My lovely, non-injured friends took me and Kirsten out for a birthday dinner last night at La Cantinera. I got drunk immediately and consumed chicken fajitas without tortillas. And they gave me the best gift-- tickets to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a broadway musical I have been dying to see for months but had given up hope of getting tickets for. Of course, it was lovely Kathy*'s idea, so she and I have a date for August 4!
It was erin's last night with us. She's moving to Portland today. I've known her for 9 years and she's one of my closest friends. It was hard saying goodbye this morning. I was hungover and sleepy, which actually helped, but it was very hard. I bought her a copy of Geek Love, which is disturbing and riveting and takes place in Portland.
*My partner in musical-theatre-loving geekitude. She doesn't have a blog or I would link her. Why are you in Tavie's head? 8:55 AM | shower me with attention

Gina has fallen, yet again, and twisted her ankle, yet again.
We have provided her with soda, an ice pack, and her computer, but that is all the waiting on her we will do until she agrees to see a doctor and have it checked out.
Tough love, that's what it's called. Why are you in Tavie's head? 8:35 PM | shower me with attention

I feel old now.
I can't believe erin's leaving on Thursday.
I'm old and my friends are leaving.
And I'm getting a cold.
(Well, not every post can be ecstatic raving about Disney World and Broadway musicals.) Why are you in Tavie's head? 11:26 PM | shower me with attention
My favourite person in the world turns 26 today.
(No, I'm not talking about me.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIRSTEN!!!!!
I can't sleep. I'm going to be really tired at work on my birthday and probably have my one-year review too. But today was swell. We saw Spamalot, which, although it doesn't fit my specifications for excellent musicals, was nevertheless an excellent and entertaining extravaganza of delight and nerdy Monty Python references and Tim Curryness. And, actually, David Hyde Pierce stole the show. He totally blew me away. I now forgive him for stealing Phil Hartman's Emmy.
I wish I could sleep though. Why are you in Tavie's head? 12:40 AM | shower me with attention
