Sis asked me to make her a playlist of songs to take to Japan that will remind her of me, freely encouraging me to include my favourite genre of music.
I thought I would burn her a CD, but as I was going through my iTunes, I found it harder and harder to exclude anything, with the result that it would/will take 5 or 6 CDs just for the "showtunes" selections alone. (I'm making another playlist of my non-showtunes favourites.)
Look how long this shit is. And I was conservative in my choices:

You know what the worst song of the '80's was?
Kokomo.
Yeah, think about it, you can't think of anything worse, can you?
Today I met Pretty Boy Steve Fulop, who is indeed much better looking in person than any picture can convey. Homina.
I also got a free meal, which is always a lot of fun for me, because I am a cheap, poor bastard. Why are you in Tavie's head? 10:03 PM | shower me with attention

This is crazy. I've been meaning to "confess" this for awhile. Ever since I finally brought my radio to work, I've been listening to Air America whenever I can.
And something surreal has happened.
I have found that I really like Jerry Springer.
I'd always been disgusted by his television show, and have thus dismissed him as someone not worth my attention.
But he's on the radio all morning, and he's an intelligent, reasonable, affable guy. And he and I agree on many, many issues.
It's. Crazy. Why are you in Tavie's head? 8:10 AM | shower me with attention

Yesterday I got to see Beth for the first time in AGES, and meet her guy Nathan. It was a pleasant surprise that diverted me from my dull plans of going to bed at 10:30. Beth postulated that Skeeter from the Muppet Babies was the only one not to survive childhood. Scooter is so traumatized by the tragic loss of his twin sister that he never mentions her. It's both funny and poignant, really. I also told her about the Muppet Babies/Scientology connection. Spooky.
Now for my bragging: the second puzzle in this week's Times magaine is this "3-D Word Hunt", the object of which is to find as many 5-letter words as possible. (Described here.) According to the game's description, "Finding 20 words is par; 30 is expert; 40 is genius-level"; and there are 48 total that the puzzle's creators will provide with last week's answers.
I am a GEEEEEEEEENYUS! I found 40, not counting the "example" word that Shortz provided in the instructions. That's right, GEEEEEENYUS level!!!
Yes, I'm excited about this. Leave me alone with my puzzles whydoncha. Why are you in Tavie's head? 7:52 AM | shower me with attention

Yesterday being dies patris, I took my dad (and mom) to the movies and dinner. (Kirsten was sick and stayed home.)
Of course, Dad got to pick the movie, so I had to watch Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith.
Here's the funny part: surprisingly watchable. Not entirely boring. Laughably bad dialogue, some atrocious performanes, but Ewan McGregor's Alec Guiness impression made it worth it, as did the clicking together of the ending with the original (also mostly yawn-, but occasionaly nostalgia-inducing) movie.
