Taking a token from Beth, I'll try one of this end-of-year survey, too. I don't do surveys here a lot, and it's the holidays, dammit.
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? Made popcorn with my mom in Amsterdam! (I'd "made popcorn" before, but not with my mom!) 2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I dont' do resolutions, but I did start Atkins Jan 1 last year and, except for Christmas and Halloween, stayed on it pretty well. I won't make any for next year, but I am planning to get back into it seriously again so I can shed the rest of this stuff. 3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My friend Amanda had her little Ozzie on April 12. And my friend Bill's wife Julie gave birth in July. 4. Did anyone close to you die? No, knock wood. 5. What countries did you visit? The Netherlands. 6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? To live somewhere else. Independence. 7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Election Day, because everything went to hell for me personally just as everything went to hell politically. July 5, the day I got hired at my current job. Just because I always remember dates like that. 8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Graduating from college. (Closely followed by losing 30+ pounds.) (And finally making an appointment with a therapist! And keeping it!) 9. What was your biggest failure? Losing only ~30 pounds. Failing to manage my financial problems in time to avoid disaster. Not keeping in touch with my closest friends. 10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing worse than colds and splinters! WHOO! (Fuck, now I'm going to go outside and an anvil shall drop on my head.) 11. What was the best thing you bought? iPod. Totally. 12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? Everyone who's put up with my shenanigans over the last year deserves a prize. Or at least a gold star. 13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? The red states. Often, my own. Whats-his-face's who I'm not friends with anymore. 14. Where did most of your money go? Discover Card. I don't like this question. Let's move on. 15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? A project I may or may not be involved in, related to these guys. That above most other things, I think. 16. What song will always remind you of 2004? Oh, whatever, blah blah blah. I hate music questions, I can never think of anything. Oh, I know! "Brakelights" by Man in Gray. "Silver Lining" by Jordan Cooper. 17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? HAPPIER. Last Christmas was the worst ever, because my dad had his first episode of aphasia and I thought he would have a stroke at any second. Also, it was our first without Don, and not in TJ's old house in Westchester. b) thinner or fatter? 30+ pounds thinner, but could be more... c) richer or poorer? Richer, since I am, in fact, employed... 18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Making time for my friends. Talking to Ade. Knitting. Exercising. (Not studying, since it didn't end up mattering. Ha ha.) 19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Complaining. Feeling sorry for myself. Moping. Bitching, whining, puling. Being hard on my family. Being mean to myself inside my own head. 20. How will you be spending Christmas? (This question should be in the past tense.) I spent it with the other four members of my enormous family, in my aunt's new apartment in Brooklyn Heights, eating Caribbean food and dancing to salsa music! 21. How will you be spending New Years? As per tradition, it will be New Years with Gina and assorted Goils (this year in The Penthouse!) 22. Did you fall in love in 2004? Hm. Next question. 23. How many one-night stands? Zero. 24. What was your favorite TV program? Me no have time to watch-a the tv. I guess Arrested Development, the little of it I got to see. 25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Nah, I hated Dubya last year, too. I have no personal enemies that I'm aware of. Oh, I hate people who write like chickens when submitting job applications. 26. What was the best book you read? I'm a fucking geek: The Dark Tower, Stephen King. 27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Nooooo muuuuuusic queeeeeeestions. 28. What did you want and get? Season Two DVDs! Denise Needles! The first ten or so items from my Amazon wish list! (In the mail.) 29. What did you want and not get? John Kerry for President. (Not copying you, Beth.) Also, the free tee-shirt that woulda come with the KITH DVDs if Santa had gotten them from the website... 30. What was your favorite film of this year? Anchorman, I guess. 31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Turned 25. Ate at Sushi Samba. 32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Pass. 33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? Oh, please. Um. Workplace casual. Baggy, ugly clothing that's too big for me. Same as every year. 34. What kept you sane? The medication, of course! 35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Alan Rickman, apart from the usual. 36. What political issue stirred you the most? The war. 37. Who did you miss? Ade. Kitana. Linn. Goose. Matt. Cheryl. Rynn. Steph. Rosie. Lily. 38. Who was the best new person you met? Captain Annoying and his girlfriend (needs nickname... how about... Jezebel?), I guess, and pretty much everyone else in my department at work. 39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004: Ummmm. I'm drawing a blank. 40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: Ew. I hate this question. Pass. |
