Boy, you know, I hate what online Kids in the Hall fandom has become. When I first came around, there was none of this possessiveness, this withholding of information or trying to outdo one another. When I first came to the newsgroup (ten years ago?!), there was one main central forum where everyone knew they could count on one another to pass info on, or shoot the breeze, whatever. Now there's a dozen little splinter groups, and although some of us try to be as generous as possible with any info or tips we get, others of us see fit only to tell their own friends about it.

Usenet is the widest available forum there is, the best-known and longest-established by both fans and insiders, and an easy format for threaded discussions and bulletin-sharing. People used to know that. I guess I'm just sad that it's been displaced by privately-owned websites and web forums. Which are all very nice, but tend to be so self-contained. It used to feel more community-like, I guess. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I got too old or something. Or maybe with the widespread availability of the web, newsgroups just seem superfluous now. I don't think so. I find them extremely entertaining and valuable still. But I'm a freakin' nyerd.

It really cheeses me that things are like this now. It used to all be so friendly. I know that whenever I learn of something that's going to happen, I make sure to post it in as many places as possible so as many people can hear about it as possible. I guess that's just me these days, huh?

Oh, well. I'll keep posting in all the places I know of. Golden rule and all that.
