Erin got a bunch of tickets to see "An Evening with Bill Murray" at BAM tonight and it was really fun. He's a funny, funny man. I could listen to him talk for hours. Even about movies I've never seen. (For some reason they mostly discussed Bill Murray films that I haven't seen. One day I'll get around to Caddyshack.)
School starts again tomorrow. (You can't see it but I'm making a little sarcastic twirly motion with my finger.) Kirsten just reminded me of something great Mr Murray (oh HA! I just accidentally wrote "Mr Wonderful" and had to backtrack!) said near the end of the night. Someone (Elvis Mitchell?) asked him about his "almost zen calm" on screen, that serene presence he's brought to his roles, and Bill said something that amounted to, "I find that in acting and in other places, in life, if I can just get out of my own way for a moment, good things happen-- you just have to get out of your own way." That's not an exact quote but it's the gist and it was so beautifully put. I'm always getting in my own way. Get out of my own way. That's so good. I love you, Bill Murray. |
