Went to see a seminar at the Museum of TV&Radio called "Muppets Rarities", which was really good and funny and cool. Jerry Nelson, Jane Henson and Bonnie Erickson (a great, old-time Muppet designer) were panelists. The only drawback was the Q&A session, which was full of really nervous, dorky people who gave Erin a panic attack, especially the guy who brought his very own puppet. The puppet desperately wanted to ask a question, and kept shifting and waving his stick-propelled arm in the air, but the wise moderator ignored him.
Throughout the show, a young man in the seat next to me was writing in a composition book. He wrote almost continuously. I wondered what was in the book-- was he writing an article or a review of the event?-- but I couldn't make out much of his handwriting. I saw some shorthand for "Jerry Nelson" and "Jane Henson", and not much else. As we all got up to exit the auditorium, I saw him close his book and snuck a peek at what was written on the cover: Although the Muppets were funny, this was undoubtedly the funniest part of the evening. |
