Tonight the sky is clear for the first time in weeks. I wanted to go out and look for Mars, but I was too afraid to leave my house and see the dark skyline of the City. My power was out till around 8:45 and when it came on, I turned on the news and the first thing I saw was film of masses of people leaving the City by foot, gave me a bad jolt, brought back those memories, so I just sat on the futon, trying to get a hold of Tavie and erin, like I had been trying on my cell since the power went. Finally got Tavie, but, still no erin. I had no idea when I spoke to Tavie that she had had to walk across the bridge again till I read her blog. That settled it, no leaving my house to see the sky. Then I spoke to Tavie again and she told me to go, she said it was a regular black out and that I shouldn't let my mind associate it with the bad thing. She calmed me down about my fears and so I went off to see the sky.
It was the most beautiful sight. The giant moon was rising up behind the City and it was blazing bright reddish orange and to the south of it higher in the sky was Mars, it too was glowing orange and was brighter then the white stars twinkling around it. I could still see lights from the City (from generators I suppose) and I felt very calm..then I realized that the few mosiquito bites I had received sitting on my porch earlier in the evening were being joined by many more. I hated to leave, but, the itchy bites won.
Finally got erin's answering machine. Hope she is okay.
