In my dream, a woman plays Jesus in Godspell, and in my dream, that woman is me. (In my dream, I can sing, dance and act.)

In the past, I have gathered Converse hi-top sneakers, brightly-coloured suspenders, a Superman shirt. I've practiced my solos both in and out of the shower. I've scouted out locations. There's a glitzy musical production perpetually being staged in the back of my brain. If you're reading this, you're probably in it. If you're known to sing, you probably have a solo. Even if you're a lurker, you're probably somewhere in the background, setting up the scenery and hauling the curtain.

I don't wish to be crucified, but I do wish to be harmonized with.

So, today I found the rainbow-striped pants needed to complete my dream. I found them in, of all places, Dylan's Candy Bar, on 60th and 3rd.

One of these days, I'll march in and buy those multi-hued trousers, and then my dream will be complete: Jesus-- fat, long-haired, left-footed and female-- will dance and sing. Oh what a day that will be.
