I have terrible skin. I always have had terrible skin...dry, ugly, horrible skin. I bring this up only because I have been thinking about my Granny's skin...it was so soft and she always smelled so nice...she was a mean old broad (I mean that lovingly!) and yet when she would pat my hand or when I would kiss her cheek when we left her house, it was always a comfort to feel her soft skin...am I being weird? I know that I am probably expressing this wrong.
Also, my family is NOT touchy feely and no one EVER hugged...so I don't know why we always kissed Granny and Grandpa when we left their house.
I think part of the reason I am thinking about it is that I could not go home to KC when she was dying. I was so poor and had no money and my mom wouldn't help me out because she felt it was best that I not be there since I loved Granny so much...the fact that I was 30 years old didn't stop her from treating me like a small child who needed to be protected from death...so I never got to hold her hand, kiss her on the cheek and say goodbye...I did get to do that with my dad...
