Social ability is all about context. If you put me in a room of sci-fi fans, I start to feel almost arrogantly generous in my ability to listen to boring conversation, smile and laugh at the right times, not interrupt, and pretend not to notice that no one's making eye contact. I become a social gold-medalist.

Put me in a room full of "mundane" ("mundane"? Fuck, I am one of them!) people and you'll find me curled up in a corner in a fetal position, licking the Bible for strength.*

In other news, I feel terribly lonely at the moment. Weird.
