I just left the following note downstairs on the table where they leave the newspapers for our building. (Each one has an apartment number writ large in magic marker across the top.)

Dear Neighbors,
The Saturday and Sunday NYTimes marked with 1309* are ours. 1309 was our old apartment# across the street. Until we correct this error with the Times, please do not take our papers!!!
Your friends in 5242 (formerly 1309)

Do you think it will work? I had to steal someone's Sunday mag again, and I hate having to resort to petty thievery like this. (My theory is, someone takes our paper because they figure, since our building doesn't have a 1309, that it's free for the taking, when in reality, we just accidentally sent them the wrong number when we got the subscription.)

*None of the apartment numbers in this post are real, to stave off stalkers. Whatever, I used to have stalkers, it's not that far-fetched. :P
