Got a detailed email from Kirsten about her impressions of her new home. She lives in a town called Kashiwazaki, which is officially the most rural place a Phillips has ever lived in; she shan't even have a phone in her apartment until October (no, that won't do!) and she's the first Assistant Language Teacher for that school ever to ask about home internet connection. (She logs on from the school where she works.)

Hmm.

Also, apparently it's quite beautiful there but she's a bit homesick. What should I send her to make her happy?

(What I would like to send her is a high-speed internet company to install some semblance of technology in her new little world. We are soft, we city-folk.)
