Today is special for two reasons:

1. According to the calendar, it is spring! As you know, there is a ritual listening to/singing of Winter's on the Wing from The Secret Garden to herald in the coming of spring. Sort of my own, private, idioreligious practice. (I coined a word?)

The sun spells the doom of the winter's reign
Ice and chill must retire
Come the May, say I!

2. Ten years ago today, Newsradio premiered on NBC. Yeah, blah-blah, what's the big deal about a low-rated sitcom that made little splash and isn't even rerun in syndication anymore? A pretty big deal, actually, and if you know me at all you know why it's a big deal for me.

Happy spring! Happy Newsradio day!
