Let's practice transcribing a conversation as it happens:

"Do you know, I remember the first time I kissed your mother? It was 1969. I waited until I'd gone out with her five times. We were coming home from a seance in Yonkers..."

"A seance?"

"Yeah, these people had a seance. Didn't prove anything."

"Wow."

"But, Tavie, I was very, very nice to mom, and told her I would protect her from strange men and dogs, and that if I'd met her in high school I would've carried her books for her and opened doors for her and carried packages for her, but I said I was glad I met her when I did 'cause I really was so much in love with her and I still am. I've never been out of love with her, 'cause she's my beauty."
