i'm actually looking forward to sunday. i've been an on-and-off football watcher for much of my life, with the occasional game inciting excited yelling and cheering.

this year my team, the new england patriots, have made it to the super bowl...for the third time. they didn't win the first two times, for many reasons...sub-par team coordination, scandals, distractions including a head coach who signed a contract the night before the big game to coach another team the following year, etc.

this game is completely different. the team is superb, the coach is solid and the only "controversy" has involved our quarterbacks...that's right, we got two :) . we have creamed teams this year that we have dreamed about beating in the past.

but i have a huge pet peeve now. everyone...the media, the other team and even other pats "fans" are underestimating the team. they can't look past the team's track record from previous years and assume, nay, believe that the rams will win the super bowl. they don't even take the pats into consideration. all the coverage focuses on the rams with a tiny bit give to the patriots, usually to discuss the bledsoe vs brady debate. its really starting to steam me up. this team has worked hard all season, proven themselves beyond a doubt and they still can't get respect. they're the women of the football league...they have to work three times as hard to get the same level of respect as the other teams.

but i can only hope it will work to their advantage. underestimate them and be underprepared. come out expecting victory to be easy and asses will be kicked.

so, if you even care, and you like an underdog, send your positive vibes to the pats on sunday.
